【Experiences】
I experienced a range of volunteering activities such as: festival and event preparation, coffee packaging,Airbnb room cleaning, garden work and personal art projects. I was also able to explore the prefecture of yamaguchi by going to places like Ube, Shimonoseki, Tsunoshima and Nagato with other village members.
【Memorable things】
I loved helping with ‘Earthday’ preparations such as building the music stage. I also enjoyed helping out with the ‘Tawarayama Onsen festival’. I also liked working on my art project.
【What I learned】
I learned about various Japanese festival cultures that I had not experienced before such as kabuki shows and traditional dances.
【My future ideas for Tawarayama village】
If I decide to volunteer in tawarayama in the future, I would like to help with some house renovation designs and maybe help build a treehouse in the village.
【My message to people that are interested in volunteering in Tawarayama】
What I have learned from working in this incredible community is that it is important to share your own ideas with the group so that new possibilities are achieved.Also, it is important to make great friends within the community and have fun as well!
